GEOPARK FESTIVAL - Geology of Hopes Nose

26 May

Hopes Nose

Join Rich from Taleblazers to explore this fascinating site with fossil corals, an ancient, raised beach and to hear about the story of the local gold found here!

About this event

Please meet at the entrance to Hopes Nose where we will be ready to go at 7pm. We will finish the walk at Oddicombe beach around 8.30pm. This walk is around 1.5km (1 mile) in length with around 100m of climbing; a reasonable level of fitness is required to complete the walk comfortably.

Rich is a local geologist and teacher, and a fellow of the Geological Society of London who has been interested in the rocks of Torbay and south Devon since he was young. He now runs Taleblazers, a community interest company based around storytelling, natural history, folklore and heritage.

No geological knowledge is needed for this walk, just an interest in the rocks that make up this stunning part of the world. Numbers are strictly limited for your safety and to allow us to pitch our descriptions at your level.
