A large sign has been installed at the entrance to Torquay to celebrate the English Riviera's status as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
The UK has only Global Geoparks, which are concerned with Conservation of Natural Heritage, Sustainable Economic Development, Promotion of Science Education and Community Engagement.
The new sign is located on Riviera Way, near the end of Hamelin Way and the South Devon Highway and features the logo of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisations.
More than 700 delegates from more than 50 countries to Torquay last month for a Geofair at the Riviera International Conference Centre, which was part of the seventh International Conference on UNESCO Global Geoparks.
It was the first time, the bieannial conference has token place in great britain. The last conference in 2014, was held in canada.
